During the First World War it was requisitioned and converted into a hospital. At the end of the war it was assigned to the YMCA and used as a center for those American troop permissionaries still present. The palace’s activity resumed afterwards but the building was finally dismantled during the second World War by the Nazis in search of metals to build anti-tank barriers in 1944.
