Bustling Parisian boulevard in front of the old fortified door Saint Martin, circa 1900.

The public transport of the time was the horse-drawn omnibus. In 1855, Baron Haussmann, prefect of the Seine, merged the different companies into one: the Compagnie Générale des Omnibus (C.G.O.). Gradually challenged by streetcars, buses and the metro, the horse-drawn omnibuses made their last trips on November 11, 1913.
