Sunday being the day of the Lord and of the celebration of Mass, which every believer must attend, Sunday work has traditionally been frowned upon by the Church.
In this engraving, we see a line of worshippers winding their way through the center of a village on their way to mass. On the way, they pass a smoky forge, whose flames are reminiscent of the damnation that threatens Sunday workers. Across the street, a tavern where people indulge in sin. Fortunately, most of the faithful make their way to the heights where the parish church, the place of salvation, is built!
