The equestrian statue of Louis XIV was erected in 1828 in the centre of the Promenade du Peyrou in Montpellier, France. Listed as a historic monument in 1954, the bronze statue is the second representation of King Louis XIV in this city, the first version having been destroyed during the French Revolution. It is a smaller replica sculpted by Jean-Baptiste Joseph Debay and cast by Auguste-Jean-Marie Carbonneaux based on drawings by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. (Wikipedia)
