Original Sin

In our Religions series:
Deceived by the devil (disguised as a snake), Eve tasted fruit from the tree of knowledge. Then Adam ate some too, despite God’s express prohibition. Thus, having lost divine grace, humanity was driven from the earthly paradise and became subject to ignorance, pain and death.
Below, the scene of exclusion: an angel holding a flaming sword leads Adam and Eve out of paradise, watched by death armed with its scythe.
Fortunately, two medallions at the top of the image show two ways of erasing original sin: on the left, the sacrifice of Christ, which delivers the believer from it, and on the right, baptism, which purifies the child.
