François Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, draughtsman, engraver and decorator.
He worked in all genres: religious painting, mythological subjects, rustic scenes (as seen here), landscapes, animals, and decorations for monuments and private homes. He is perhaps the most famous painter and decorative artist of the 18th century. A year before his death, he estimated that he had produced more than ten thousand drawings.
