Jules Favre (1809-1880): French politician with a long career (deputy, senator, minister of foreign affairs, etc.).
Lawyer, then president of the Bar Association, leader of the Republican party, he resolutely opposed the policies of Napoleon III.
In January 1871, as Vice-President of the Government of National Defence, he signed the armistice, then the peace preliminaries at Versailles and the Treaty of Frankfurt.
