This engraving is a reproduction of a rare 17th-century print signed by the artist Mellan, and untitled : The Holy Face.
Technically, this image represents a feat for the engraver: it was engraved in a single stroke, in an unbroken spiral that begins at the tip of Christ’s nose and concentrically unfolds to form the facial features, the crown of thorns, the drops of blood and finally the halo.
