The word toad is the vernacular name given to over 500 different species of anuran amphibians, the Bufonidae.
Like other amphibians, toads produce venom containing toxic and sometimes hallucinogenic agents, which protect them from many predators. What’s more, their skin is thick and resistant to dehydration and injury.
