” Mont-de-Marsan, in Gascon Lo Mont de Marsan, is the capital of the Landes department in South-West of France.
This engraving, published in 1880, depicts the confluence of the Midou and Douze rivers, joining in the heart of the city center to form the Midouze, a river tributary of the Adour. In the Middle Ages, this was the site of a major river port, protected by fortifications.
