Winter 1895 on the Seine in Rouen

The year 1895 in France was rich in climatic events: cold spells and avalanches in winter, heat waves in summer.

According to reports at the time, almost every river in France froze. In Paris, the Seine was completely frozen between February 10 and 24. In Rouen, the river was crossed on foot.
